Mission and Vision:

Our Vision is to enrich and equip the Banjara Gypsies with socio and spiritual upliftment. Working with a nomadic community poses unique challenges, including cultural differences, mobility, and resistance to change. BGI continually adapts its methods to effectively meet the needs of the Banjara people through indigenous missionaries. One of the greatest miracles taking place in our time is the conversion of the Banjara people especially in India. The primary objective is to mobilize resources and financial support to advance our missionary activities. We aim to engage individuals, communities, and organizations to contribute to our mission of spreading love, evangelism, providing education, healthcare, and spiritual support to Banjara community.

Our Schooling Program: Providing Hope and Opportunity

Education is at the heart of our mission to serve the Banjara community in India. For over 27 years, we’ve reached out to the Banjara people through personal care, education, and the life-giving hope of the gospel. Many of the children we serve have never known what it feels like to be cared for or to experience the love of a family. Education, for these children, is often a distant dream—until they come to BGI.

We recognize the power of education not only to change individual lives but to transform entire communities. Education opens doors, breaks the cycle of poverty, and empowers young people to become leaders, providers, and advocates for change. The Schooling Program is more than just an academic endeavor. It’s a holistic approach to child development, where we focus on nurturing the mind, spirit, and character of every child. By providing a safe, loving, and supportive environment, we give these children a chance to thrive—something many have never had the opportunity to experience. Here’s a closer look at our schooling program and its impact:

  1. Academic Education
We provide a well-rounded education that includes core subjects such as reading, writing, math, and science. This foundational knowledge equips our students with the skills they need to succeed academically and in life. Our goal is to ensure that every child receives a solid education, laying the groundwork for future opportunities.

  2. Spiritual Education
In addition to academics, we emphasize the importance of spiritual growth. Many of the children come from families that have never heard the message of Jesus Christ. Through Bible study and teachings, we share the hope of the gospel, helping the children develop a strong spiritual foundation. By teaching them their value in God’s eyes, we equip them to face the challenges of life with confidence and faith.

  3. Character Development
We believe that education is not just about academic learning; it’s about developing character. Our students are taught the importance of respect, kindness, honesty, responsibility, and perseverance. These values are foundational to their personal growth and will guide them in their future endeavors as they become leaders in their communities.

  4. Life Skills
In addition to traditional subjects, our schooling program includes practical life skills that are essential for success. From basic financial literacy and problem-solving to effective communication and teamwork, we prepare our students to thrive in the real world. These skills help them adapt to different challenges and ensure they have the tools needed to create sustainable livelihoods.

  5. Vocational Training and Skill Development
As part of our broader mission to empower the Banjara people, we also offer skill development programs alongside education. These include vocational training in areas like farming, animal husbandry, and other practical trades. By combining education with hands-on skills, we prepare children not just for academic success, but for practical, sustainable careers that will support their families and communities.

  6. Safe and Supportive Environment
For many of these children, the BTM school is the first place where they feel safe, valued, and cared for. Our facilities include separate dormitories for boys and girls, ensuring a secure and nurturing environment. In addition to schooling, we provide food, shelter, and emotional support, creating a place where children can heal, grow, and thrive.

Expanding Our Program - Special Project

Currently, we operate in two southern states in India, but the need for education among the Banjara people stretches far beyond these regions. With over 445 million children in India, many of whom still lack access to quality education, there is an urgent need to expand our program and reach more children across the country.

To make this possible, we are raising USD $75,000 to acquire five acres of land in a new state, where we will establish a new facility. This will include a Childcare Center with schooling, a church for spiritual guidance, separate dormitories for boys and girls, and skill development programs.
